About The Belletrist

You can call me Belle, as the lovely world of tumblr seems to prefer that over my name. I recently graduated from university and I am at the start of my career. Lately I have missed more than ever the lively discussions about fictional characters, cyclical patterns in history and ancient philosophers, which occurred in large groups so frequently during my years at school. I may not have much time that I can spend on Tumblr, but I certainly welcome the opportunity to chat with some kindred spirits, as Maud Montgomery might say if she lived in this social media age.

This blog is a place where I discuss literature and music and architecture, travel, history, sources of joy in the world, and many aspects of humanity.

Sherlock, Downton Abbey and Foyle's War will be mentioned quite often (I do love British television)!

Since I tend to be in the midst of reading multiple books at any given time, I am now making my way through Middlemarch, Agatha Christie’s 4:50 from Paddington, Orwell's The Road to Wigan Pier and the complete works of Christopher Marlowe.
